Our program and emergent curriculum is child-centred and based on the individual child’s interests, needs and strengths. Our emergent curriculum is guided by the National Quality Framework, National Quality Standards (NQS), the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and the Victorian Early Years Learning & Development Framework (VEYLDF) and consists of learning experiences (spontaneous and intentional), interactions and routines which help to optimise learning and development. Our caring, qualified and experienced educators use fundamental components from the Montessori approach to deliver open-ended play and learning experiences, for all children to promote holistic development.
To ensure parents can continue the conversations that have been had at the centre your child’s online portfolio is available through a private platform Educa. This online portfolio captures and evaluates the individual child’s learning and development. This two-way portal provides the parents with an opportunity to give feedback and upload activities that the child is doing it home.
At Silkwood Stars, we promote sustainable practices which are embedded throughout our program. Working in a natural environment is of the utmost importance to our centre’s practices. Each room is equipped with its own yard with bespoke play equipment to promote curiosity and encourage active participation in play. Our large yards provides us with veggies and fruit used in some of the children’s meals. The children support the gardening program and develop an appreciation for the environment.
We have multiple special days sprinkled throughout our calendar year for children to learn the importance of community. The children also have an opportunity to learn French and Mandarin as part of the Silkwood Stars Program.
